VISION SERVICE PLAN (VSP) ANNOUNCEMENT
Beginning Oct. 1st, 2023, Premier Family Eye Care (PFEC) will no longer be honoring VSP Preferred Provider copays. Due to recent economic inflation and VSP’s refusal to increase provider reimbursements for exams, we are forced to move to a different model.
To give some perspective, VSP has not increased provider reimbursements for exams or materials since the 1990's. They have, however, increased patient monthly premiums and patient responsible amounts on materials.
VSP patients will now be responsible for all amounts outside of what their vision plan will reimburse.
For example, Patient A is a new patient and has VSP.
-
Exam Fee: $150
-
VSP Estimated Reimbursement: $45
-
Patient’s Exam Out Of Pocket Responsibility: $105
For example, Patient B is a returning patient and has VSP.
-
Exam Fee: $130
-
VSP Estimated Reimbursement: $45
-
Patient’s Exam Out Of Pocket Responsibility: $85
In addition, our optical’s pricing structure moves away from traditional al-a-carte pricing model and moves to a packaged based system.
We sincerely hope you will give this a try. We have spent years working on pricing that will work for us and to keep you from spending any more than you would if you utilized your vision plan. In most cases, we found out you will end up spending the same amount on glasses. We believe by moving to this model, we will be able to provide you with the quality of care you are accustomed to without being yoked by VSP’s policies.
